What in RS railway ticket?

An RS railway ticket in India stands for Reservation against Cancellation (RAC). When a train is running full and there are no more confirmed berths available, RAC tickets are issued. RAC tickets have a number associated with them, indicating the passenger's position on the waiting list. When a confirmed berth becomes available due to cancellations, RAC ticket holders will be assigned those berths based on their RAC number. RAC berths offer a higher likelihood of confirmation compared to waitlisted (WL) tickets. However, there is still a possibility that RAC tickets may not be confirmed before the journey. Passengers with RAC tickets may have to share sleeping accommodations temporarily until confirmed berths become available. If the RAC status doesn't get confirmed until the chart preparation before the train's departure, RAC ticket holders are entitled to a refund.
