Friar Lawrence does not marry the couple he wanted to.

In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence agrees to marry the couple of Romeo and Juliet in secret, but he does not want to do so. He warns them of the potential dangers and consequences of their hasty decision and tries to dissuade them. However, ultimately, he agrees to perform the marriage ceremony in an effort to help the young lovers and believes it is the best way to prevent them from taking more drastic measures.
