Basic Steps
1. Starting Position: Stand with your partner in a closed position, with your stomachs touching. The leader’s left hand holds the follower’s right hand, and the follower's left hand holds the leader’s right hand .
2. Step One: The leader steps forward with the left foot and the follower steps back with the right foot.
3. Step Two: Bring the right foot together with the left foot and slightly shift the weight to the left foot.
4. Repeat: Continue alternating steps, stepping forward and back with the same foot.
5. Sway: As you dance, add a slight sway to the movement, moving from side to side as you step.
6. Finishing: Bring feet together on count 8 and pause 1-2
Extra Touches
- Embrace: Hold each other closely, with your free arms around each other's backs.
- Turn: Occasionally add turns or spins to your dance by leading or following your partner.
- Dips: The follower can dip down from time to time, bending knees and keeping the leader’s hand. The leader can pull them back up by guiding them with their hand.
- Twists: Add a bit of flair by adding a subtle twist to the body when stepping.
- Footwork: As you get comfortable, you can add more intricate footwork, such as a triple step, shuffles, and crosses.
