The eXcuses eXtreme café is a 6,700-square-foot dance club in Dallas’ historic Deep Ellum district. The bar and restaurant offers swing dancing on Thursday nights. Swing dancers can come in for instruction at 8 p.m. for $5 and enjoy open dancing until midnight or later. Swing dancers will learn six-count swing, eight-count swing, the Lindy hop, Charleston, Balboa, shim-sham and others during the instruction session, which they can practice during the open dance.

The Dallas Swing Dance Society was formed in 1998 to preserve and promote East Coast Swing and the Lindy Hop in North Texas. The nonprofit organization offers public lessons and dances on Saturdays. Prices vary, as do the venues. Anyone can attend classes or parties but volunteer club members may be eligible for class scholarships and dance party passes. Club members can get discounts on dance classes, workshops and special events.

Studio 22 is a social dance club that offers lessons. The club has a 4,600-square-foot dance floor and holds 20 to 35 group classes each week. It offers 90-minute classes on East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, swingout and Balboa. On weekends, students can practice their moves at dance parties.
