  1. Sul Ross Dance Club

    • In operation since 1978, the Sul Ross Dance Club is open every Thursday night from 7 to 10 p.m. for those who enjoy line dancing, two-step, waltzes and polkas. Since the dances are held only once a week, built up anticipation yields an enthusiastic crowd. Admission is usually $5, and live country-western bands perform each week on a stage that lies in front of an expansive wooden dance floor. Decor is limited, with occasional silver streamers and American flags. Sul Ross Dance Club is most popular with senior citizens, but people of all ages are welcome.

    Wild West Waco

    • This 12,000-sq. ft. club is one of the bigger dance venues in Waco. Wild West features a wooden oak dance floor where patrons dance to DJs and live bands projected through an 8,000-watt sound system. Music tends to be mostly country and western, although Thursday nights incorporate some contemporary dance and other styles for college night. Wild West Waco has four full-service bars, offering you draught and bottled beers as well as a variety of cocktails and spirits with nightly drink specials. Wild West also holds a variety of unusually-themed contests such as the "Womens' Tight-Fittin' Jean Contest," which runs every Thursday with a $100 cash prize.

    Club Alazan

    • Club Alazan is a two-story Latin-themed club playing salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaeton and more for a crowd of enthusiastic dancers. The second floor dance floor plays mostly salsa music on Friday nights, while Saturdays are principally reggaeton. The entry fees for these nights are $5 for men and free for ladies; minors are also allowed for a fee of $10. Sunday nights are special nights with live bands playing regional Mexican music in the lower level. Alazan has a full-service bar and also has a restaurant with Mexican cuisine.
