Country Night Clubs in Houston, Texas

Houston is the largest city in Texas and the fourth-largest city in the United States. The city has experienced a population explosion over the last fifty years, and now the greater Houston area is 12,476 square miles--larger than the state of Maryland. With size like that, there is plenty to do in the city. While Houston is not the home of country music, it is the largest citiy in Texas and there are many country western bars for Houston residents to dance in.
  1. Wild West Houston

    • Wild West Houston is in the Richmond section of Houston. It has a solid oak dance floor, pool tables, a kitchen with a Tex-Mex menu, gaming tables and a country DJ playing both country and dance music. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but every other night of the week they have specials. On Wednesday nights there is a bikini contest; the winner gets a trip to the Virgin Islands and a share of a $1,500 cash prize. On Thursday nights they feature free pool. Friday specials include $1 well drinks, $2 longnecks and $3 "almost anything else" until 11 p.m. On Saturdays they have $2.25 bar drinks, $3 Millers and $3.25 Coors and Karaoke in the VIP section. On Sundays they have dance lessons from 4:30-6:00 p.m.

    Goode's Armadillo Palace

    • Armadillo Palace is part of the Goode Restaurants company, which also operates barbecue, Tex-Mex and Seafood restaurants. Armadillo Palace was created by the Goode founder's son, Levi, as a country music venue with an emphasis on Texas swing music. The inside is a veritable museum of Texas history, including real Republic of Texas currency, stuffed animals and a sterling silver saddle which was used in the 1945 Rose Bowl parade. Because it has a basis in Texas food and the restaurant business, the Palace has a full menu of comfort food and is available for rentals.

    Chances

    • Chances is a country music bar for lesbians. It has expanded since opening in 1994 and now has four bars; in true Texas fashion, they boast that they are the largest women's bar in the world. They are involved in the community, hosting pride parties, AIDS screenings and donating to women's charities. Like other country bars, Chances has a wide variety of theme nights. On Wednesdays, there is Texas Hold'em poker and $2 well drinks. On Thursdays, Chances has steak night, karaoke and beer buckets. On Fridays, Chances hosts karaoke, dancing and $2 well drinks until 11 p.m. On Saturdays, Chances has $2 vodka drinks.
