How long has salsa dancing been going for?

Salsa dancing originated in the mid 1970s in New York City. It was developed by Puerto Rican musicians who experimented with different rhythms and sounds, incorporating elements of traditional Latin music such as son, rumba, bolero, and bomba. The term "salsa" was first used in 1973 by Fania Records to describe this new genre. Since its inception, salsa dancing has gained popularity worldwide, becoming one of the most recognised and celebrated forms of Latin dance.
