Salsa Dance Clubs in Pittsburgh

When you normally think of night clubs in Pittsburgh, images of shot-and-beer joints and menus with ham loaf often come to mind. Pittsburgh, however, has changed a lot since its steel mill days and the result is a city with a wide variety of nightlife. Included in that list are salsa clubs that serve Latin food to go along with the music.
  1. Bossa Nova

    • Situated in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh, Bossa Nova has a Latino flavor on Thursday nights when a DJ plays salsa dance music. The show starts at 9 p.m. and there are Corona specials that evening. There is no coverage charge on any evening at the club, which also has a DJ on Friday nights and various drink and food specials throughout the week. The club promotes its tapas (appetizers), cocktails and martinis, and has added plasma TVs for viewing sports. Groups and private parties are accommodated at a club that has fine cuisine and is open to 11 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

    Mexico City Restaurant

    • The Mexico City Restaurant has two locations in Pittsburgh, including one on Wood Street in downtown Pittsburgh that has a full bar, hosts salsa parties and holds daily happy hours. The details vary a bit on each evening, but the Mexico City Restaurant holds salsa events on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. All three shows, which last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., feature salsa music played by a DJ as well as free dance lessons. Live bands also perform three times a month on Saturdays. The menu features the cuisine you'd expect in a Mexican restaurant, including quesadillas and enchiladas.
