Who came up with the tango?

The Tango originated in the mid-19th Century, in the late 1880s, in areas of Argentina and Uruguay, but its origins began decades earlier. Its roots trace back to the "habanera" from Cuba and the "candombe" from Uruguay, which were imported into Argentina, via Buenos Aires' immigrant population at that time.
