Where does Spanish come from?
Spanish (español) is a Romance language spoken in many parts of the world. It originated from Latin, which was the language of the ancient Roman Empire. Latin spread throughout the Iberian Peninsula (modern day Spain and Portugal) when it was conquered by the Romans in the 2nd century BC. Over time, Latin evolved into what we now call Spanish. This process was influenced by various factors, including the interactions between the Romans and the indigenous peoples of the region, as well as the influence of other languages such as Arabic and Basque. Spanish continued to evolve and spread during the Middle Ages and beyond, becoming one of the most widely spoken languages in the world.
