Who created the flamenco dance?

Flamenco did not have one specific creator, but rather evolved over centuries in southern Spain. Its roots can be traced back to various cultures and ethnic groups that influenced the region, such as the indigenous Iberian people, the Moors (Muslims from North Africa), the Gypsies (Roma people), and the Sephardic Jews.

Flamenco consists of a fusion of different influences, including Moorish music and dance, traditional Andalusian folk dances, and the song and guitar traditions of Spain. It developed within marginalized communities and was passed down orally and through cultural transmission, with each generation of artists contributing to its evolution.

So while there is no single creator of flamenco as a whole, it is a collaborative art form that has emerged through the cultural cross-pollination and expression of different communities over many years.
