Selena was born in Lake Jackson, Texas, and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. She began her career at the age of nine as the lead singer of Los Dinos, a band formed by her father. Selena gained popularity in the Tejano music scene in the 1980s and 1990s, and her albums sold millions of copies worldwide. She also starred in several films, including "Selena" (1997), which was a biographical drama about her life.
Selena was killed at the age of 23 by Yolanda Saldívar, the president of her fan club. Saldívar shot Selena in the back in a Corpus Christi hotel room on March 31, 1995. Selena died at the age of 23.
