What happened to Selena?

On March 31, 1995, American singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was killed in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 23. She was shot in the back by Yolanda Saldívar, the president of her fan club. Saldívar had embezzled money from the club and was fired by Selena's family. After she was fired, Saldívar lured Selena to a Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi to allegedly give her financial documents. When Saldívar attempted to shoot herself in front of Selena and Selena tried to stop her, Saldívar shot Selena once in the back. The bullet damaged her right subclavian artery and lung, causing massive internal hemorrhaging. Selena was rushed to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:05 p.m. CST.
