How to Perform the Glissee Tour Jete Dance Move

A glissee tour jete is a relatively advanced dance move used in genres like ballet, lyrical and modern dance. It starts by first chasing ones feet together in a gliding motion followed by a kick in mid-air where the legs switch places with one another.

Instructions

    • 1

Perform a "glissee" or "glissade" by stepping out with the right foot and chasing it with the left foot. The feet should touch or "kiss" in the middle of the move. At the end of the glissee, your weight should rest on your left foot with the right foot free to continue the tour jete portion of the movement. Arms should extend softly out to the side for the duration of this Step 1.

    • 2

Do a "tour" by stepping on the right foot and swinging the left leg around at the same time that you do a 3/4 turn.

    • 3

Begin the "jete" portion of the move by jumping in the air and switching your feet so that your left leg supports your weight and your right leg extends up and behind you. As you jump, your arms should extend straight up over your head but remain relatively loose without locking the elbows.

    • 4

Complete the jete with the left foot on the floor supporting your weight and the right leg extended straight out behind you.

    • 5

Bring the right foot down behind you with the feet still separated. Distribute your weight equally. Arms once again are extended softly out to each side.
