Bert Williams (1874-1922) was an American vaudeville performer, comedian, singer, songwriter, and dancer. He is considered to be the first jazz singer. Williams was born in the Bahamas and moved to the United States as a child. He began his career in show business at a young age, and eventually became one of the most popular entertainers of his time.
