When was jazz created?
Jazz originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the African-American communities of the Southern United States. The specific origins of jazz are not well-documented, but it is widely believed to have developed from a combination of African and European musical traditions, including African polyrhythms, European harmony and melodies, and American marching band and ragtime music. Jazz emerged in the late 1890s in New Orleans, Louisiana, and subsequently spread to other cities and regions of the United States, as well as internationally.
