When was rap founded?

The exact moment hip hop began and the moment that rap originated are the subjects of debate. While many aspects of hip hop culture (the writing style of graffiti included) developed in the mid and late 1970s in New York City, most cultural historians will point to the party of DJ Kool Herc on August 11th, 1973, as the founding moment for hip hop culture, where its core characteristics were all present.
