What does Soc wants to talk Ponyboy?

In the novel "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, the character of Soc (Bob Sheldon) does not express any desire to talk to Ponyboy. It is Johnny, a fellow gang member, who wants to talk to Ponyboy.
