Basic step in abaruray folk dance?

Basic steps in Abaruray

1. Bend your knees while you step forward with the right foot, then quickly raise or tap the left knee.

2. Step forward with your left foot and do a small hop on the right foot, then stamp the right foot down next to the left.

3. Slide both feet to the right, and hop and stamp again on the right foot, then draw the left foot back to the right foot.

4. Repeat steps 1/3 on the left side, then do the following variations as you move in any direction:

a) Instead of tapping your raised knee in step 1, do a half knee bend as if you were seated on an imaginary chair, then stand back up.

b) Instead of a small hop in step 2, leap a little with both feet off the ground.

c) Instead of stamping on the left foot in step 3, cross it over in front of the right foot, as if doing grapevine steps.

d) Instead of drawing your foot to the right in step 4, do small grapevine steps to the right or left.

5. Continue to mix up the steps in any order and pace you like while staying fluid, as there is no set choreography.
