Pasadena, California, offers a variety of choices in both music and dance for children. Many of these programs begin with infants and toddlers moving up through adults, and involve a monthly or per-session tuition fee.   1. Music and Dance for Kids

    • Music and Dance for Kids with Miss Claire has locations in South Pasadena, Sierra Madre and San Gabriel, California. Classes are available for children as young as 12 months through 8 years old. Types of classes include tap, ballet, parent and me and combination classes. The combination classes offer lessons in ballet, tap and jazz, and focus on building coordination and skill strength. Dance sampler classes for toddlers introduce skills in tap and ballet and focus on movement, following direction and basic skills. Musical Fun for Tots incorporates singing, instruments and dancing, with crafts and sharing time. The focus is to help children begin to love dancing and the arts.

    Academy of Music and Dance

    • The Academic of Music and Dance in Pasadena offers a variety of dance and music classes for children as young as three months through adult. Multiple sessions of each class are offered, allowing for scheduling flexibility. Classes include private music and voice lessons, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, competitive teams, rock band, acting, lyrical, modern and musical theater. Class placement is based on the student's age upon enrolling, and students are required to be enrolled at the conservatory for the whole school year. Program options range from an infant class where a parent and child learn about music and dancing together, to ensemble groups that require a recommendation from an instructor. Other programs offer instruction in improvisation, music reading and writing, ensemble training, movement and singing. Classes are also offered in brass, woodwinds, percussion, strings, piano, vocal music, theory and composition and guitar.

    Le Studio Dance

    • Le Studio Dance offers dance classes for children beginning at 3 years old. Classes are offered throughout the week in areas such as tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, lyrical and contemporary. Competition teams are available for older students who have been selected. This includes Studio 57, for students seven through 19 years old and the Ballet Company, which focuses solely on ballet performance. The studio also offers a variety of recreational classes such as Zumba Fitness, Tango, Irish and Hawaiian. These are taught by individual contractors and not instructors from the studio.
