Go to local dance clubs in the area. There are a variety of different types of dance clubs. For instance, the East Side Lounge offers "80s Madness" on Friday nights, while The Earl hosts bands which play everything from rock to punk. Smith's Olde Bar offers five different rooms of dance entertainment. These rooms usually have different vibes; one might have a DJ spinning music, while another will have a live band. To participate in the dancing, contact the location and ask if there is a cover charge for a given night. Then, go to the club, pay the cover and dance the night away. Note that on some nights, in the non-dining areas, these clubs are 21 and over.
Participate in dance classes found within East Atlanta. The Dair project, Dance 411 and The Journey Performing Arts Center all offer classes for those who are interested in a variety of dances such as modern, tap, jazz and ballet. Some classes may require an audition for advanced instruction. The cost of classes vary depending on the location, teacher and length of the courses.
Audition for professional and semi-professional theater in East Atlanta. The Fox Theater, True Colors Theater Company and the Northeast Atlanta Ballet are all professional theaters and companies which hire both union and non-union actors and dancers to perform in their shows. If you are in the theatrical union, ask your representative to set you up with an audition. If you do not have a representative, it is required that a theater holds an equity open call where you can audition for the upcoming show. If you are non-union, contact the theater about getting an audition. Certain auditions will be open calls, while others will be by appointment.
Go to restaurants which also offer live entertainment and a dance floor. The Blue Frog Cantina and East Andrews Cafe and Bar are restaurant venues in East Atlanta which also allow patrons to dance to the music. Make a reservation for dinner and then stay to hit the dance floor after dinner.
