Hand Jive Instructions

The Hand Jive is a simple dance that originated in the 1950s and was associated mainly with the genres of rock and roll and rhythm and blues. Johnny Otis helped to make the dance popular with the hit, "Willie and the Hand Jive." This type of dance has been widely used in other areas, as well, such as the movie "Grease." Doing the hand jive requires little physical exertion, and you can perform it in a small area.

Instructions

      Pat your hands on your thighs twice.

      Clap your hands together twice.

      Hold your hands out straight with your palms facing the floor. Cross your right hand over your left twice. Then cross your left hand over your right two times.

      Form fists with both hands. Tap your right fist on top of your left fist twice. Then tap your left fist on top of your right fist two times.

      Point your right thumb over your right shoulder twice, as if you were hitch hiking. Repeat twice with your left thumb over your left shoulder.
