Join a cheerleading class to find a coach and work out with other cheerleaders to help train for your audition. You will learn new moves, have the benefit of working as an ensemble and have the guidance of an experienced coach to help you through your audition routine.
Undertake other physical activities outside the cheerleading class such as athletics, gymnastics and dance classes and go to the gym to build your strength, stamina and agility. It is essential to improve your overall physical fitness in preparation for your cheerleading dance audition.
Observe the dance routines of other cheerleaders and emulate some of their moves while creating some of your own dance moves. Watch different types of dance movies to expand your knowledge of dance and to adopt some dance moves for your own routine.
Choreograph a cheerleading dance routine to a cheerleading-style chant incorporating your pom-poms. Follow the beat of the chant to create each corresponding movement to your dance routine. Show your dance routine to your coach and ask her to give you advice on how to improve your routine for your audition. While practicing your routine, do not be afraid to experiment and push your physical boundaries to create elements of difficulty to impress the audition panel.
Practice your routine extensively until you have perfected every movement so that your routine looks smooth, natural and you can perform it with confidence and ease.
