The Six Step is considered a foundational breakdance move. It usually provides the momentum to perform other ground steps. The overall Six Step appearance looks like you are making a circle on the ground with your hands and feet. Watch the video in the Resources section to get a good visual to match the following steps.
Start by putting your fingertips and toes on the ground as if you were about to do a push-up. Step one involves lifting your right hand off the ground and crossing your left foot underneath your body and to the right. Step two is when you bring your right foot almost parallel to your left foot. In step three, you bring your body into a squat with your hands on the ground behind you. For step four, you start to complete the circle. Lean on your right hand and cross your left foot in front of you. Step five is when you bring your left leg back a little about a foot, essentially putting it in the same position as your right foot was in step one. By step six, you will return to the push-up position.
The Backspin is a move you can do coming out of the Six Step. Start by doing the Six Step at least two complete times. Start a third Six Step. On the transition from step two to three, lay on your back as you bring your left leg around. Keep your hands and head off the floor and whip the left leg around as far as possible until your body starts to spin. Follow the left leg with your right leg moving in the same direction to keep the momentum going. Then tuck your knees in and wrap your arms around them to increase the spin speed.
The Turtle Freeze requires you to balance your weight on your hands. Get on your hands and knees, with arms directly under your shoulders and fingers spread wide apart. Make sure your elbows are firm into your body for more balance ability. Bring your knees up to be parallel with your wrists and then lean your head down. Slowly lift your knees and head up at the same time so that you are only balancing on your hands. Make adjustments as necessary so that you find that "sweet spot" where you are as still as possible. Continue to practice this until you can hold your position for at least three seconds before letting go. When this becomes easy, try circling around on your hands while keeping the Turtle position.
