How to Put Yourself in a Hip Hop Freeze

Break dancing, a form of hip hop, involves a variety of acrobatic moves, such as the freeze. A freeze move will vary in difficulty and style, depending on the dancer that performs it. However, a freeze will typically involve a dancer lifting and holding themselves off the ground in a certain position, while remaining perfectly still for several seconds, as referenced in the name of the move. How the dancer gets himself into the freeze position and how long he holds it reflects the skill level of the dancer and the move.

Instructions

    • 1

Crouch on the ground with both hands touching the ground in front of you and your legs in a squat.

    • 2

Bend your torso and head towards the ground so that the right side of your forehead touches the ground, keeping your palms flat on the ground and your elbows bent.

    • 3

Position your right elbow so it digs into either the center of your stomach or into your right side. This will be a means of supporting yourself once your feet are in the air.

    • 4

Shift your weight towards the front of your body so it is distributed onto your hands and right arm.

    • 5

Lift your legs off the ground and hover in this position for several seconds remaining as still as possible.
