How to Do Ballet Fouette Turns

Ballet is an extremely challenging fitness activity. It really should be considered a sport. Fouette turns are the most difficult turns in ballet and thus take a lot of practice and years of training. Here is how to do ballet fouette turns.

Instructions

      Stand tall on your left foot and prep side then back (in fourth position) with your right foot. Make sure your weight is centered between the two feet. Do a double pirouette, leg turned out.

      Open your right leg at an angle as you spot your second pirouette. Plie at the angle to power your body around. Continue to open your leg completely to the side and pull it into passe for three-quarters of a turn.

      Spot the mirror and open your leg again at the corner (left angle if facing front) while you plie and open your leg side. Pull it into passe and continue the next turn.

      Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for as many fouettes as you would like. Pull into passe and pirouette out of it to finish. Most of the time the leg lands back crossed, chest lifted. However, you may finish the turn combination however you see fit.

      Repeat Steps 1 through 4 on the opposite side where the left leg is your working leg and the right leg is the center. Practice daily and you'll be able to do these well in time. Good luck!
