Overnight Ballet Summer Camps in Boston

The summer months provide ballet students with the opportunity to develop their abilities and grow ever-closer to the elusive dream of a professional ballet career or one day owning a ballet company. Ballet students from Boston or those with an interest in spending the summer there can take advantage of overnight summer camps offered by the Boston Ballet, The Boston Conservatory and Boston Dance Company.
  1. Boston Ballet School

    • Boston Ballet School provides male and female dance students ages 15 to 19 with an intensive summer dance experience. The 2010 program lasts from June 26 to July 31 and encompasses technique, pointe, pas de deux or partner dance, and variations training. Supplementary classes provide training in Pilates, conditioning for male students and character dance. The tuition for the five weeks of the program is $2,850 and does not include a $2,325 fee for room and board. The program offers a payment plan and financial aid is available. Over the course of the program, students will take five to six hours of classes each day and will also learn about the world of professional dance in lectures. Classes include ballet and modern dance with guest teachers. Boston Ballet School also offers a less-intensive summer program designed for young children ages three to four and five to seven.

Students set up their own schedule, allowing up to five classes in each session. Students taking three or more classes are considered "full-time." Students take the same curriculum for their three- or six-week period. Among the classes students can choose from are African dance, ballet, hip-hop dance, modern dance, pointe, tap dance and body percussion. In order to take ballet, modern dance or pointe classes, students must have undergone two years worth of significant previous dance classes. Program costs are per-class and amount to $330 for each non-credit class and $660 for each for-credit class.
