How to Write an Acoustic Poem
Many people may remember learning the different types of poetry in elementary school, but they may not necessarily remember how to write them after so many years. For example, some people forget about acrostic poems, sometimes referred to as acoustic poems. These poems are distinct by the first letter of each line spelling out a word, often the subject of the poem. Each line is typically a word -- sometimes a short sentence -- that describes the subject of the poem.

1
Decide the subject about which you wish to write an acrostic poem. This can be an exercise for children to learn how to write using their own name, or it might be a poem describing candy.

2
Write a word or a short phrase vertically, so that each letter takes up its own line. For example, to write an article about soda, write:
S
O
D
A

3
Write a word or a short sentence on each line, starting with the line's letter. For example, you might end up with:
Sweet
Orad
Delicious
Acidic
