      Buy or borrow a book of poetry containing a collection of the most famous poems by various poets.

      Take time each day to read a poem or two.

      Make a poetry notebook by journaling what you think of each poem. Note an asterisk by some of your favorites reminding yourself to read more of a particular poet's work.

      Find books with preferred types of poetry if you notice a particular kind of poetry that you seem to understand or appreciate. Some examples include sonnets, Victorian and freestyle.
