How to Live By the Law of Attraction

The law of attraction is simple: Like attracts like. If you are negative, your life will reflect unhappiness. If you are positive, your life will be fulfilling and joyous. For many people, the concept of attracting anything you want to you is incomprehensible. However, millions of people worldwide have incorporated the concepts of the law of attraction into their lives and have experienced an overflow of abundance and happiness. You only need to practice a few basic exercises, and you will soon know what true happiness in life is.

Change the way you think. This is perhaps one of the hardest things to do when you are trying to make the law of attraction work in your life. As the saying goes, old habits die hard. The trick is not only believing that you can make your life work for you or attract large sums of money to your wallet, but convincing your subconscious of this. The easiest way to align your subconscious mind with your conscious mind is to repeat positive affirmations every day: "I am going to have $300 by next week"; "I deserve abundance"; "I have a brand-new truck." Repeating these things will clear your subconscious of its old habits, making room for the faith you need to make the affirmations a reality.

Express gratitude. Every morning, take at least 5 minutes to write down what you are thankful for. Each day that you practice this, you will notice your list growing longer. Once you begin displaying gratitude for the things you already have, you will start to take notice of things you once took for granted and will be thankful for them. This is a simple exercise, but a very powerful one.

Erase negative thoughts. You do this by replacing them with positive thoughts. The minute you find yourself complaining because of a traffic jam, immediately become thankful that you have a car to be stuck in traffic with. If it is cold in your house and you complain because of it, replace it with thoughts of gratitude for the blankets you have to keep you warm. This takes practice, as many people complain without realizing it. Eventually, though, expressing positive thoughts will become second nature. After all, the basic concept of the law of attraction is that like attracts like. The more you complain, the more things you will be given to complain about, and vice versa.

Surround yourself with positive people. Negativity is like a disease. It spreads quickly from one person to another, even if you are a positive person. To avoid this, find someone who is optimistic and soak up her positivity as though it were rays of sunshine. Is it possible to be happy all the time? Absolutely. In fact, it is necessary to exude happiness for the law of attraction to work for you. Before long, you won't have to look for things to be happy about, because you will be attracting them to you. If nothing else, be happy you were given another day to live.

Visualize your life. Everyone loves to daydream. You see a brand new Mustang drive past you and immediately you begin to think how nice it would be to have it. For a few brief moments, you become lost in your thoughts and a smile spreads across your face. You can have that Mustang, though, and the moments of happy daydreaming can turn into a dream come true. No matter what it is you want for your life, daydream about it. See yourself with it and let your thoughts affect your emotions. Practice this a few times throughout the day, and soon you will have what you are visualizing. Why? Because you have put it out to the universe in a positive manner, and it is being brought back to you just the way you envisioned it. This is the epitome of the law of attraction.

Read. If you begin to lose your motivation, or are having a tough time changing your thought process, pick up a book by one of the many authors with expertise in the law of attraction. These include writers such as Dr. Joe Vitale, author of books including "The Attractor Factor"; Bob Proctor, motivational speaker extraordinaire; and Melody Larson, author of "The Beginner's Guide to Abundance." All of these people have websites that offer words of inspiration and motivation. They have all used the law of attraction in their lives, resulting in success and happiness.
