Copyrights for each book are held by Casemate Publishers, a Philadelphia-based printing house that specializes in military history. In the United Kingdom the series is distributed by Amber Books. Each book is roughly 200 pages and was published in hardcover, before being released in a less expensive paperback form.
The books are written by multiple authors, including Michael Haskew, David Porter, Chis Bishop, Christ Chant, Thomas Newdick, Thomas Cooper and Jorge Rosado.
The title of each guide is "The Essential Vehicle Identification Guide."
