Why did shakespeare change the lord chamberlains men to kings men?

William Shakespeare did not change the name of his acting company from Lord Chamberlain's Men to King's Men. That change occurred after his death in 1616, when the company received a royal patent from King James I, allowing them to perform under the name of "The King's Men."
