Is there a link between the barber of Seville and marriage figaro?

The Barber of Seville, also known as The Useless Precaution, and The Marriage of Figaro are two comic operas composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with words by Lorenzo Da Ponte, The librettos of both operas are based on plays by French playwright Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais and they feature some of the same characters such as Figaro, Almaviva, Basilio, Bartolo, Rosina. These operas are linked thematically as a contiguous musical story following the characters and their lives over time.

Marriage of Figaro follows and continues several years the love story initiated in the Barber of Seville and is a sequel to it in terms of drama plot and character relations.
