Padaythabin was an ugly looking man, hunchbacked with long arms and big ears. He was an outcast of his village and nobody wanted to be near him. One day a rich merchant and his assistant came to the village. Padaythabin approached the assistant who laughed at him and the merchant who ignored him. The rich man’s assistant told the assistant to stay at the village while went on a journey. Padaythabin asked the young assistant to take him along. Despite his appearance, the young assistant agreed. During their journey Padaythabin showed remarkable wisdom and good advice. The assistant told him that he was like a beautiful flower whose beauty was covered in dirt. Padaythabin revealed his true identity, he was a powerful deity who had come to the village in disguise to understand them. In the end, Padaythabin gave the assistant advice and rewards.
