Donate your books to one of the five branches of the Torrance Public Library (see Resources). If you are donating a large number of books, take them to the loading dock behind the Civic Center Library. The librarian will accession the books that the library needs in its collection and will sell the rest to the public through the Friends of the Torrance Library.
Contact the principals of local schools to determine if some of your books are acceptable for use in the classrooms or for inclusion in the school library. Contact preschools if you have books that are suitable for preschool children.
Donate to a charity. Goodwill and The Salvation Army, for instance, accept books and other items. You may take the books to one of the stores in Torrance or schedule a pickup. The Salvation Army also has donation boxes around Torrance (see Resources). Visit Donation Town to find other charity organizations in need of books that also offer a free pickup service (see Resources).
