Frostwire supports every possible file format you can think of. This includes document, audio and video formats. The most common audiobook format is MP3, since its an open-source, MPEG-based format that offers a high compression ratio for playback. Two other formats that audiobooks might come in are RealAudio and Windows Media Audio. There is free software available to play each of these formats from your computer.
To search in Frostwire, first launch the application from the desktop, then click the "Audio" button on the left-hand search column and type the name of the book you're looking for. Click the "More Search Options" check box, then click the "Audiobooks" option and click the "Search" button. On the right-hand panel, a list of available audio files appear.
To download a file on Frostwire, go to the right-hand panel after conducting a search. Double-click the file name and that file immediately starts downloading to your computer. At the bottom of the Frostwire window, a status panel opens showing you what file is downloading and its status. Also, recent downloads may appear in this section until you close the program.
Once you've downloaded it in FrostWire, go to the bottom download status panel and double-click the audiobook file. It begins playing immediately via Frostwire's built-in audio player. If you prefer to play the audiobook in a different player, then you can right-click the file and select "Show in Explorer." The Windows Explorer window opens to the exact file where you can right-click that file, then select the "Open With" option and click your preferred media player from the list.
