Select an edition of the trilogy to read. You can buy a boxed set of the hardcover edition or purchase the books as individual paperbacks. The 2006 paperback edition of the first book sports the cast of the "Eragon" movie on the front cover, while other paperback editions have drawings of the characters.

You can even dress in costume when you read the trilogy to further display your connection to a particular character or race.
Join a book club that focuses on fantasy or sci-fi novels. Even if "Eragon" or "Eldest" aren't on the upcoming reading list, chances are the other members will be familiar with the trilogy and be very willing to discuss their thoughts on the story.
