Book Rack Designs for Classrooms

A variety of design options are available for classroom book racks. Books should always be appropriately organized and displayed to provide easy visibility and access. Even though computers seem to be taking over more and more, books need to be available depending on students’ learning preferences.
  1. Magazine Style Book Rack (Front Face)

    • This style lends itself to more of a visual display of the book’s often illustrated cover, which entices or reminds a student of the contents. This style is also a more contemporary version of the standard book shelf, in which you only see the book spines.

Combination: Front Face and Spine Face

    • You can also have a combination of a front-facing, magazine-style rack and the traditional spine-facing rack. Versatility is a major plus when dealing with different ways of thinking.

    Movable

    • You can try a creating a rack that moves on casters and/or is able to open into different arrangements. For example, you can have a foldable rack that can close and be double-sided or open into the space with only one side as a rack and perhaps a fold-down bench on the side that was opened.
