How to Add Sound to eBooks

Adding sound to your eBook brings it to life. It makes the eBook interactive and a lot more interesting to the reader. Your audience is also more likely to continue on to see what more is in store. With so many eBooks on the market today, the author can add a little spice to his online manuscript. Taking the extra step to add sound goes a long way in increasing sales and overall readership. Capturing and keeping the attention of the reader is crucial to the success of your eBook.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your word-processing program used to create your eBook. Select "File > New > Templates." If the book template does not appear in the first list of templates, click "More" and follow that up by clicking on the book template.

    • 2

Write a few lines of text up to the point where you would like to insert your sound bite. Highlight the word or words you want animated. The interactive text appears as a hyperlink that the reader can click on.

    • 3

Click at the top of the word-processing program to select "Insert > Hyperlink." The Edit Hyperlink box opens. Choose "Existing File or Web Page," then navigate to the folder on your computer where your music file is stored. Select the file and click "OK." You have now added sound to your eBook.
