The APH website explains that the size of text used for printing materials for the sighted population is between 8 and 12 point font size, for the visually impaired, a font size of 18 points is standard. The three fonts commonly used for large text are Arial, Helvetica and Times Roman.
The Presbytery for Cascades website reports it is standard for large text to be spaced with 1.25 lines between each line of text. Upper and lower case letters are also used, instead of all capitals, for the visually impaired.
The APH explains that avoiding glare problems for the visually impaired requires the use of dull paper, colored either white, ivory, yellow or cream. Artwork standards include the use of full-color or black-line art instead of shaded or gray-scale printing.
