Launch Microsoft Word and open the document by selecting "File" then "Open" from the top menu. Select the entire document by pressing "Ctrl+A" on the keyboard, then click the "Paragraph" button under the "Home" tab. Change "Line Spacing" to "Single" and select "First Line" under "Special" to properly indent the text.
Locate the end of each chapter and left click to place the cursor after the text. Select "Insert" from the top toolbar, then "Page Break." Click and drag the cursor over each chapter title and select "Heading" from the "Styles" menu.
Type the title of the book and the author name on the first page, then insert a page break. Write any copyright information on the next page, then insert another page break. Add a dedication and foreword page with page breaks as needed.
Locate the end of the document and insert a page break, then add any additional material such as and appendix or a glossary. Select "File" then "Save" and save the document as an HTML file by selecting ".htm, .html" from the drop-down menu.
Download "MobiPocket Creator" from the "Resources" section and open the program. Select "Import from an Existing File" and choose "HTML Document." Click "Import", then "Build" to compile the HTML document into an e-book compatible file.
