How to Make a Personalized Storybook

Need a way to make children feel special? Want to teach children ideas about the world in a personalized way? Or perhaps you want to memorialize your own exciting memories? A personalized storybook can do all that and more.

Reading an ordinary book leaves you feeling like you're on the outside looking in. In a personalized storybook, you're the main part of the story.

Instructions

  1. Creating a Personalized Storybook

    • 1

If you are creating the book for your child, your topic might be "Keisha Goes to Sleep" or "Danny Learns to Ride a Bike." If you are creating a book for yourself, name it "My College Experience" or "Sixty Days to Tour Europe."

    • 2

Brainstorm a list of pages you want in the book. For example, some items on the list might be "Keisha Brushes Her Teeth," or "The day we hiked up Mount Vesuvius."

    • 3

Organize the items on the list into chronological order.

    • 4

Create one page for each item, with at least one picture on each page. Use pictures from your trip to, for example, Europe, or stage new pictures specifically for the book, such as a picture of your daughter brushing her teeth.

    • 5

Glue the appropriate pictures on each page, and add text that describes what is happening in each picture.

    • 6

Insert the pages into the plastic sleeves.

    • 7

Organize the plastic sleeves in chronological order and insert them into the binder.

    • 8

Use another piece of construction paper to create a cover for your personalized storybook, and glue it to the front of the binder.
