Design the layout and content of the book. Create an outline you can later use to make a table of contents. Consider information that might be important to include in a clothes book. Include a brief introduction to the book and what information it will present. Consider chapters about clothing in various cultures and social environments, clothing trends and how clothes are manufactured. You'll want to include several chapters relating to the fashion industry and famous designers.
Take pictures of a variety of clothes to illustrate your clothing book. Decide whether you want to put the pictures in the book throughout, place them to illustrate specific chapters or keep them in their own section. A combination of both methods might work even better.
Use a desktop publishing program like Microsoft Publisher or Adobe PageMaker to put your book together. Write your text first, then scan or upload photos to your computer and add them to your book in the appropriate places. Adding the graphics after you've written the book will help you decide the best placement for the pictures.
Save your finished book file as an Adobe PDF (portable document file). This is a good method because it's a cross-platform file format any printer can use.
Find a print-on-demand printer to print your book. Print-on-demand means you can choose the cover material for your book and decide what size you'd like the book to be. It also means you can have small print runs of the book and pay only for what you print. Many print-on-demand printers keep your book on file, and print and fill orders for you as they come in, usually for a reasonable fee. There are many choices for print-on-demand printers (see "Resources").
