National List of Book Publishers

Book publishers are independent entities that work to get books and other resources to the hands of readers across the country, according to the University of Chicago Press. Book publishers have been considered gatekeepers of the United States’ culture, and many companies today are merging due to financial constraints, according to the “Journal of Cultural Economics.” The nation’s largest companies publish in a variety of genres, including academic books and fiction and nonfiction for both children and adults.
