Who is Richard Ozanne?

Richard Ozanne was a cartographer, engraver and illustrator who worked for the British Admiralty during the 18th century.

He was born in 1725 and died in 1816. He was a prolific artist and produced over 1,000 maps and charts during his career. His work is noted for its accuracy and detail.

Ozanne was born in London and began his career as an apprentice to the cartographer John Senex. He later worked for the Admiralty and the East India Company. He also produced maps for a number of other publishers, including Robert Sayer and Thomas Jefferys.

Ozanne's maps were used by British naval officers and explorers during the 18th century. They were also used by the general public and were often included in books and atlases.

Ozanne's work had a significant impact on cartography and he is considered one of the most important British mapmakers of the 18th century.
