In Norse mythology, Oberon was the elf-king of Svartálfaheim, the realm of the dark elves. He was first mentioned in the 13th-century Prose Edda, and he later appeared in William Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream". In 1930, Oberon was featured in the animated film "Babes in Toyland", which was based on the operetta of the same name. In the film, Oberon is the ruler of Toyland, and he must battle the evil Barnaby to save the kingdom.
