Obtain a proposal form from the institutions to which you are interested in submitting. Search online for calls for sculpture proposals. College and universities, art museums, community arts groups, municipal organizations and art magazines are other places to search for sculpture proposals.
Carefully read the proposal. Pay attention to the details and requirements on the proposal form. The details may include the thematic nature of the sculpture, size and material requirements, a timeline for the completion of the sculpture and a budget. There may also be rules and regulations concerning eligibility, education and experience. Determine if your project and background fit with the requirements of the proposal.
Fill in all the spaces on the proposal application with the required information. The information includes your name, address, email address and telephone number. You will also be asked to provide a name for the sculpture, a budget and a completion date.
Write a one paragraph description and summary of the project. Describe the theme and nature of the work, describe the artistic process and method that you will use to create the sculpture, and describe the benefits and contributions your work will make to the group or institution considering the proposal.
Write a short artistic bio and resume to submit with the proposal. Include your education, artistic experience and photo samples of your work, if required.
Proofread the proposal and resume several times. Follow the rules for submitting the proposal. Some institutions may prefer that the proposal be sent through the mail while other may prefer online submissions.
