How to Make a Stick Dragon

A stick dragon is a puppet cut out from firm paper, such as poster board. Once you do the cutting, you attach a stick and the puppet resembles a silhouette or shadow. A stick puppet may have one stick or more. Attach the stick in the center of a simple puppet, or to the legs and arms for a more complex puppet.

Instructions

    • 1

Find an image of dragon in a magazine or coloring book and cut it out, using the scissors.

    • 2

Place the cut-out dragon on the poster board and trace around it, using the pencil. Repeat the process so there are two dragon outlines.

    • 3

Add details to the outlines such as scales, eyes and mouth.

    • 4

Color the dragons using desired colors. The dragons don't have to be lizard green; they can be blue or orange.

    • 5

Cut the dragons from the poster board.

    • 6

Glue ice pop sticks to the back of one dragon. Place the stick so half is on the poster board and half hangs down. Use two or more sticks if the dragon is large.

    • 7

Add more glue to the back of the dragon and place the back of the second dragon on top. Press down to bind the glue. Let them completely dry before using them.
