What do you think are the five emost important skills for a musical theatre performer?

1. Voice

A strong, clear voice is essential for any musical theatre performer. They should be able to project their voice over an orchestra and be able to sing a variety of styles, from classical to contemporary.

2. Acting

Musical theatre performers need to be able to act as well as sing. They need to be able to bring characters to life and make the audience believe in the story.

3. Dance

Many musical theatre productions include dance numbers, so it is important for performers to have some dance training. They don't need to be professional dancers, but they should be able to move well and be able to learn new choreography quickly.

4. Sight-reading

Musical theatre performers are often required to sight-read music. This means being able to read and perform music that they have never seen before.

5. Musicality

Musical theatre performers need to have a good sense of musicality. They need to be able to understand and interpret music, and they need to be able to work well with other musicians.

In addition to these five essential skills, musical theatre performers also need to have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn new things. They also need to be able to collaborate well with others, as they will be working with a team of actors, singers, dancers, and musicians.
