What was Betty Boop originally?

Betty Boop wasn't originally a cartoon character! She was a flapper-inspired character who first appeared in the 1930s as a "talking" dog in the animated short "Dizzy Dishes".

Her original name was "Boop-Oop-a-Doop", and she was designed to be a caricature of a 1920s flapper girl, embodying the rebellious and carefree spirit of the era.
